Zagoriy Foundation is a laboratory of social projects supported by Glib and Kateryna Zagoriy
Zagoriy Foundation explores socially valuable ideas, transforms them into effective models, and scales them through both partnerships and a community of change agents.
We dream of Ukraine becoming a magnet, with people not only staying here but also coming back, considering themselves a community, affecting changes, and engaging in building the future of the state.
The mission of Zagoriy Foundation is to enable positive scenarios for Ukraine’s future by providing impetus, uniting influencers, cultivating community self-reliance, and forming “circles on water” through empowering leaders.
- 3 focus areas
- 8 own social projects
- 1,3 billion donated by Zagoriy Foundation, Zagoriy family, and Darnytsia in 2022–2025
Kateryna and Glib Zagoriy founded Zagoriy Foundation in 2015.
The family views the culture of charity as a continuation of centuries-old Ukrainian traditions.
Laboratory founders focus not on one-time assistance but on building institutions, empowering communities and leaders, and creating spaces that can influence people “through the walls.”
Kateryna
Zagoriy
Co-founder of Zagoriy Foundation, Director of the Board of Directors of Darnytsia, and member of the supervisory boards of well-known social institutions. In 2018, she co-initiated the launch of the global #GivingTuesday movement in Ukraine.
“I know for sure that if I can do something, I must do it. The world is not just for pleasure but also for action. As you are given more than others, you have more responsibility. Today, our family and Foundation aim to make Ukraine a country of dignity, continuity, and joy — for those aware of their history and proud to be Ukrainian.”
Glib
Zagoriy
Businessman, researcher, and Zagoriy Foundation co-founder. Actively supports projects in the areas of science, education, art, and institutional development. Forms a new tradition of philanthropy — strategic, systemic, and responsible one.
“A state is not only about the economy. It is also about culture, education, science, and humanity. Philanthropy is not an option but a manifestation of love for your country and people. Everyone who wants to see Ukraine strong should engage in it.”
“In 2024, we abandoned the role of a social investor and began to develop our own projects. We focus on what hurts us — and what we believe will lead to positive scenarios for Ukraine’s future. We want people to stay in this country, believe in it, and invest in it in various ways.
In order to develop a project strategy, we conduct research — both quantitative, which helps us understand the symptoms, and qualitative, to understand causes and identify interdependencies. It is research that helps us make decisions. In our work, we use business approaches and pay much attention to digitalization and measuring the effectiveness of our activities.
And, of course, it is important for us to share so that others can be guided by data and best practices and invest in the future of our country with us.
Regardless of whether we work with children, communities, the military, culture, animals, the civic sector, or the business, all our projects are about the future, about making it positive.”
“There is a stereotype that philanthropy is for the very rich or those having free time. But that’s a misconception. We are all part of society, and everyone can have an impact where they have expertise. This is how we build a strong country,” shares Kateryna Zagoriy.
Though Zagoriy Foundation currently focuses on its own projects, it still supports those projects that relate to the founders in terms of values, since they believe in their impact.
“Scale is not the main thing. Purpose is much more important. We support only those projects that relate to us, that change thinking, that we want to work on regardless of funds,” Glib Zagoriy explains.
