Mysternya

A gallery of Ukrainian origins featuring a collection of traditional Ukrainian attire and ceramics, as well as a craft shop selling works by local artisans. The project promotes cultural values and traditions, explores national identity, and offers space for authenticity and deeper connection with one’s roots.

Background

The Gallery of Ukrainian Origins “Mysternya” is a physical space in Yaremche (Ivano-Frankivsk oblast) where culture, traditions, and art come to life through exhibitions, workshops, and information work. It was opened in December 2024.

The name “Mysternya” emerged through the combination of three words: mystics, art (Ukr. “mystetstvo”), and workshop (Ukr. “maysternya”). Mysternya hence immerses you into the depths of Ukrainian authenticity and reveals it to the modern world.

Mission

Creating a new experience of interaction with traditions. Exploring our national identity. Giving space for authenticity and deeper connection with one’s roots.

About the Project

Mysternya consists of the following zones:

Ethnic space. An exhibition of items illustrating the centuries-old cultural heritage of Ukrainians — textiles, jewelry, household items, as well as traditional attire from various regions of Ukraine — and introducing visitors to traditional Ukrainian crafts.

Holiday Calendar. An exhibition that introduces visitors to Ukrainian calendar rituals, customs, and beliefs. It offers an eclectic blend of both traditional and contemporary items, which will be updated each season.

Open Funds. An exhibition of unique products of the Lviv Experimental Ceramic and Sculptural Factory.

Ninety percent of the gallery’s items belong to the Zagoriy family collection. Here, one can see blown glass and ceramic pieces from the Lviv Experimental Ceramic and Sculptural Factory and the Vasylkiv Majolica Factory, as well as carpets and authentic embroidered shirts that the family has collected over many years.

Mysternya also hosts a modern ethno shop that offers ceramics, tableware, jewelry, and decor items from such brands as Nadra, SNIP, Pavuk Store, Chichka, Clay, and many other ones that revive traditions and bring them back to our lives.

Admission is free.

Closed: Monday.

Address: Yaremche, Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, 270 Svobody Street.
