Zagoriy Foundation’s Vytoky project has launched an open call for organizations, artisans, researchers, and local communities working with Ukraine’s traditional culture. Participants will join a network of modern centers of traditional culture, while the project team will highlight their activities and create a map of such initiatives across Ukraine.
Ukrainian traditional culture lives not only in museums or archives but also in workshops, folk bands, local festivals, research expeditions, civic initiatives, and communities that are reviving crafts, songs, dances, rituals, and local customs.
It is precisely these centers that Vytoky invites to join the open call.
“We know that across Ukraine, there are hundreds of people and communities who do important work every day to preserve traditional culture. Often, they are known only within their own communities. We want to find them, connect them with each other, and make their activities visible to a wider audience — for it is precisely these local initiatives that make up Ukraine’s living tradition,” says Kateryna Gurnevych, project director of Vytoky.
Who Can Participate
The open call is open to:
- civil society organizations and cultural initiatives;
- creative associations and workshops;
- local communities working with cultural heritage;
- artisans, researchers, and folklorists;
- committed enthusiasts developing local centers of traditional culture.
It doesn’t matter whether you work in a big city, a small village, or are just starting out. If you’re researching traditional culture, passing on a craft, organizing festivals, teaching folk singing or dancing, or carefully preserving what your ancestors have passed down — this open call is for you.
Why Vytoky Is Creating a Network
At Vytoky, we’re convinced that today, it is especially important to learn about one another, support local initiatives, and show that Ukrainian tradition isn’t just a thing of the past but a living practice that is thriving in different corners of the country.
After collecting the questionnaires, the project team plans to introduce the audience to these communities, share details about their activities, and create a map of contemporary centers of traditional Ukrainian culture.

Vytoky is a cultural and educational project by Zagoriy Foundation that explores Ukrainian traditions, explains their meaning, and shows how they can naturally be incorporated into modern life. The project creates seasonal guides, educational materials, and practical recommendations to help integrate traditional Ukrainian culture into everyday life.
