Zagoriy Foundation is founded by the Zagoriy family: more information about the family.

The Zagoriy family has been doing philanthropy for many years, and since 2015, the charitable activities are coordinated through Zagoriy Foundation.

Volodymyr Zagoriy

  • Childhood

    Volodymyr was born on September 9, 1951, in the village of Staryi Kalkaiv in Poltava oblast. Volodymyr attended school in Poltava oblast. After graduating from the 8th grade, he entered the Odesa Oblast Basic Medical School.

  • Education

    In 1974, Volodymyr graduated from Leningrad Institute of Chemical Pharmacy. It was there that Volodymyr met his future wife Liudmyla.

    In 1988, Volodymyr graduated from the Academy of National Economy under the Council of Ministers of the USSR.

  • Career

    In 1976, Volodymyr became the head of a Vologda pharmacy storehouse. From 1979, he worked at Lubny Chemical Pharmaceutical Plant. And in 1989, he became the chief engineer of Darnitsa Chemical Pharmaceutical Plant in Kyiv. Today, Volodymyr is the Chair of the Supervisory Board of PJSC Darnitsa Pharmaceutical Company.

  • Philanthropic activities

    Volodymyr is the President of Ukrainian League of Philanthropists. Together with the Ministry of Education and Science, this organization annually conducts the Petro Jacyk International Ukrainian Language Competition. The competition engages the participants not only from all the regions of Ukraine, but also from countries with a Ukrainian diaspora – Poland, Canada, Argentina, Sweden, Finland, Japan.

    In 2015, the Zagoriy family founded Zagoriy Foundation with a key mission to develop the culture of charitable giving. The Foundation also supports projects in the field of culture, education and healthcare.

Kateryna Zagoriy

“We are inspired by what happened in Ukraine many years ago – the stories of Ukrainian families who set up universities, built churches, created new infrastructure. We are sure that this is possible now. And we are sure that many Ukrainian families are doing good deeds now. Therefore, our great history is to show examples of Ukrainian families who have been doing various significant good deeds – big and not that big. Both today and before.”
  • Childhood and education

    Kateryna was born on July 6, 1978, in Lviv. In 1995, Kateryna graduated from school and entered the Faculty of Economics of Ivan Franko Lviv National University, majoring in Sociology. In 2008, she graduated from Aspen Ukraine. And in 2009, she graduated from Ukrainian School of Political Studies of the Summer University of Democracy of the School of Political Studies of the Council of Europe.

  • Career

    Kateryna started her career with the non-governmental organization Education Resource Center in Lviv. Already in 2002, she worked in the Association of Network TV and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine in Kyiv. Since 2005, Kateryna has been the head of the Industrial Television Committee. From 2014 to 2016, she was a member of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting.

    Now Kateryna is a co-founder of the family charity foundation Zagoriy Foundation, she actively contributes to the activities and development of the Foundation.

  • Social activities

    Co-founder of the private family charitable organization Zagoriy Foundation, which has a mission to develop a culture of giving in Ukraine.

    In 2018, Kateryna has co-initiated the #GivingTuesday global charity movement in Ukraine, launched on November 27, 2018.

    Kateryna is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Tabletochky Charitable Foundation and a member of the Senate of the Ukrainian Catholic University.

    Kateryna is also a graduate of Aspen Institute Kyiv in 2008; since 2021 she has been a member of the supervisory board.

Glib Zagoriy

  • Childhood

    Glib was born on August 21, 1976, in Vologda in the family of pharmacists Volodymyr and Liudmyla Zagoriy. A year later, the family returned to their homeland, Poltava oblast.

  • Education

    In 1998, Glib graduated from Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University with a degree in International Economics, and in 2000, he graduated from the National University of Pharmacy with a degree in Pharmaceutical Technology. Today, Glib Zagoriy is a doctor and professor of pharmaceutical sciences.

  • Career

    Glib Zagoriy started his professional career in 1997, while studying. He started his career as the head of the marketing research and logistics department at PJSC Darnitsa Pharmaceutical Company.

    In 2001, he was promoted to the position of Chief Coordinator for General Policy and Strategy of PJSC Darnitsa Pharmaceutical Company, where he worked until 2009. After that, he was the General Director of Darnitsa for five years.

  • Philanthropic activities

    In the Zagoriy family, the culture of charitable giving has been developed since childhood – it is a tradition of upbringing that is passed down for generations. Glib is a co-founder of the Foundation, he actively promotes the development of charitable giving in Ukraine and supports stand-alone projects in the field of education, science and arts.
