Within our latest grant programme “Innovation ideas on the development of charitable giving” we have supported plenty of exciting projects, including Autism Friendly Space (AFS) from Child.ua Association. The project’s goal is to teach professional workers, namely dentists and hairdressers, to work with people who have autism spectrum disorder. The project has recently finished. Training sessions took place from December 2020 to January 2021.
According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (USA), about 1 in 54 children has been identified with an autism spectrum disorder. Unfortunately, they are not always able to benefit from different services. High-quality service for people who have autism spectrum disorder required special conditions based on their needs and preferences. Businesses often are not ready to work with clients who need a particular attitude. That is why Child.ua try to facilitate this process and help companies to become more inclusive.
For now, we have an interactive Autism Friendly Space map with ten inclusive hairdressing salons in different Ukrainian cities. It helps to find the nearest place with high-quality service. Furthermore, the project provides a strong impetus for the development of inclusive business in Ukraine.
68% of customers in Ukraine go for social-oriented companies. People want to support business which works not only for income but contributes to society. Autism Friendly Space is a project which stimulates positive changes in Ukraine. It is aimed to help all the Ukrainians to get services based on their needs.
