Supporting Organizations’ Development in Times of War: NGO “Teach For Ukraine”

Teach For Ukraine is an organization working to ensure that every child in Ukraine can realize their potential regardless of their place of birth or residence. The team involves the best graduates and young experts in various fields to teach for two years in towns and villages, where they become role models, open up new perspectives in children’s lives, and contribute to community development.

It does not matter where and in what family we were born, as well as what opportunities we initially had. What does matter for raising a healthy and happy person is the right approach and the basis that we get during our studies. Ukraine in which every child can fulfil their potential regardless of their place of birth or residence — that is the organization’s vision.

The war has had a considerable impact on educational projects, including Teach For Ukraine:

“The uncertainty after the start of the full-scale war has affected the organization’s employees not only personally but also professionally. The scattered priorities of our organization made it impossible to plan operational goals, as well as human and other resources,” says Alina Opriatova, project coordinator of the NGO “Teach For Ukraine.”

Thanks to the grant project from Zagoriy Foundation, the organization managed to improve its planning:

“The implementation of this project, i.e., the development of annual strategic goals, a system of strategic synchronizations and operational planning, and an organizational chart, helped the whole team and each of its members to gain clarity about the organization’s strategic priorities and plan its key activities and results that need to be achieved during the year,” notes Alina.

With its new plans, strategy, and work approach, Teach For Ukraine moves toward a country with no status restrictions but with every child in any part of Ukraine able to discover themselves and live a fulfilling and happy life.
