The mission of the charity organization (CO) “Perspectyva 21.3” (lit. prospect) is to show that with appropriate support, people with intellectual disabilities can have a full life and an opportunity to fulfil themselves.
The organization helps everyone seeking aid adapt in society, get a job, and acquire the necessary professional and daily skills.
Of course, such projects require considerable attention from partners and involvement of donors, with fundraising being the main assistance tool. That is why the organization joined the Effective Fundraising Tools grant program.
“We aimed to create a tool that would not only enable us to develop sustainable fundraising, but also help Ukrainians feel part of charity through personal engagement. Our volunteers created their own projects: They chose what exactly they would like to raise money for, wrote texts, and selected photos. After publishing their projects on the website, they communicated through their social networks and invited their friends to join the fundraiser,” says Olha Sokolova, Communications and Fundraising Manager at the Perspektyva 21.3 CO.
The organization has successfully fulfilled its goals — a website page has been created, enabling anyone willing to support Perspektyva to also develop their own fundraising project.
Zagoriy Foundation’s grant program helped the organization melt the ice of mistrust. “This is because people trust their friends in the first place. Our volunteer fundraising projects aimed at exactly this kind of communication, i.e., friends ask their friends to support their initiative and raise funds,” Olha notes.
Like in most charity organizations, the outbreak of the war shifted Perspektyva’ focus. In the first two months of the full-scale invasion, about 3,000 people received food kits within the organization’s humanitarian mission. Now, 150 families per week get them.
Today, Perspektyva 21.3 further works on creating a community of fundraising volunteers, which will become one of the sustainable funding sources for the CO. It thus demonstrates the effectiveness of such a fundraising tool and inspires other organizations to create and use it, too.
