Supporting Organizations’ Development in Times of War: CHYTOMO NGO

The CHYTOMO NGO began its journey back in 2009 in the walls of the Institute of Journalism of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Starting as a small project of two ambitious students, it turned into an NGO after years of hard work, clear goals, and creative ideas.

For already 14 years, CHYTOMO has successfully engaged in awareness-raising activities and involving of Ukrainians in the book community. Over this time, the organization has provided informational support to 1,100+ projects, organizations, and initiatives working in literature and book publishing. In addition, the CHYTOMO NGO performs important functions while offering book critiques, sharing information, and developing the book publishing ecosystem.

Currently, the website’s daily traffic ranges from 3,500 to 8,000 people.

The main task during the grant competition was to create English-language communication channels and strengthen partnership programs.

Despite the war and insidious blackouts, this period could boast:

— two workshops on the development of Chytomo’s English version;

— a strategic session on the development of Chytomo’s English version;

— new experts involved to develop Chytomo’s English version;

— a campaign to attract new partnerships and promote high-quality Ukrainian content.

As well as many other small victories!

Today, CHYTOMO further implements vivid projects and helps promote Ukrainian book culture.
